Not Financial, Tax, or Engineering Advice

The information and calculations generated by VoltSolar are provided for general educational, estimation, and comparative purposes only. The outputs do NOT constitute certified engineering advice, electrical engineering plans, financial advice, or formal tax counsel.

1. Estimation Variables & Environmental Factors

Actual residential solar energy production is subject to physical variables that cannot be fully captured in an online estimator, including but not limited to:

  • Roof azimuth (orientation toward true south), tilt angle, and structural roof pitch.
  • Microclimate shading caused by trees, chimneys, neighboring buildings, or utility poles.
  • Seasonal snow accumulation, dust, soiling, and ambient temperature coefficients.
  • Inverter clipping, DC-to-AC conversion efficiency, and wiring voltage drop.

2. Electric Vehicle Efficiency & Driving Dynamics

Vehicle consumption values (miles per kilowatt-hour) are benchmarked against official EPA Fuel Economy Guide laboratory testing cycles. Real-world EV driving range and efficiency vary significantly based on:

  • High-speed highway travel vs. stop-and-go city regenerative braking.
  • Cabin heating (HVAC/heat pump) during cold winter conditions.
  • Tire pressure, payload weight, vehicle towing, and wheel aerodynamic designs.

3. Utility Tariffs & Tax Incentive Verification

Electricity tariffs, net metering structures (e.g., California NEM 3.0 export compensation vs. 1:1 net metering in other jurisdictions), and retail fuel costs fluctuate continually. Tax incentives also change: the 30% federal Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) is no longer available for systems installed after December 31, 2025, and state, local and utility rebates vary by location. Our estimates exclude all incentives. Homeowners must consult a certified CPA or tax professional to confirm eligibility for any credit or rebate.

Professional Site Assessment Recommended

Before purchasing equipment, signing contractor agreements, or altering your home electrical service panel, always obtain an on-site physical inspection and certified structural engineering report from a licensed local solar installer.
